What song have you been playing nonstop all month?

sephora instant nail polish remover review

I love painting my nails and having them look all pretty, but if you're like me, you hate the whole removal process when you get nail-polish-remover-soaked cotton balls all over your bathroom and it takes way too long to get back to that fresh nail look. I heard about Sephora's Instant Nail Polish Remover and how it's supposedly "magic" so I thought I'd give it a try. I figured this is a great follow up my last nail art post.

What the products claims:
-magic in a bottle
-can make even the most long wearing nail polishes disappear
-so effective you can change nail polish as often as you like

To use:
-one by one, turn polished nails in the pre-soaked foam

My Thoughts:
I was immediately impressed by how quickly this product worked - it was truly like magic! On nails with a dark black polish, the edges were not fully clean after one minute, but it wasn't a huge issue. What I didn't like was how dry this product made both my nails and cuticles. I suggest rinsing your fingers and using intense hand and nail lotion after removing the polish.

For convenience, I love this concept of removing nail polish! I'd definitely recommend it and it also wasn't overly expensive (around $12).

Let me know if you give this product a try!

easy dice nail art | NOTD

I thought I'd share a really simple and quick-to-create nail art design. I think these dice nails are a great idea to get away from typical one-toned nails without a lot of hassle.

What you need:
-base coat
-a dark polish colour
-a light polish colour
-a dotting tool
-top coat
nail art supplies | marlee and you
Polish colours: Essie in Licorice and O.P.I. in Alpine Snow

To get your nails nail-polish-ready, click here for some tips! Now, all you gotta do is start off with a base coat, then paint your nails one or two coats of the light polish choice. (I also did an accent nail with reverse colours.) Let that dry before creating your dots with your dark polish. I used a dotting tool, but if you don't have one of these, simply bend open a bobby pin and use the plastic coated tip. Wait a solid hour before applying a top coat in order to avoid smudging the dots, and there you go! A neat variation idea would be to use little rhinestones instead of polish dots.

Let me know if you give this idea a try!
Happy painting,

pita pizza recipe

Personal pizzas are the best, because they're the perfect size for one and can be topped with ingredients that you love. What's even better is making them yourself and not having to work with pizza dough. Pita pizzas are so quick and easy to make, plus they're a healthier choice than any local fast-food pizza chain. Give this recipe a try for lunch, dinner or even a late night snack - it's that easy!

maybelline BABY SKIN pore eraser review

After seeing a few reviews and becoming rather curious, I thought I’d give Maybelline's Baby Skin Pore Eraser a try. I was actually so surprised at how small the tube was because the photos online were apparently deceiving. (I took a picture of the tube in my hand to help show proportions.)

maybelline baby skin pore eraser | marlee and you

What the products claims:
-instantly blurs the look of pores, without clogging them
-transparent gel formula, smooths on clear
-smooths and refines skin’s appearance
-non-comedogenic and fragrance-free

-use alone for flawless skin, smoothing onto areas with visible pores
-smooth a thin layer under foundation

My Thoughts:
I don’t typically wear a full face of makeup on a daily basis, so I was really counting on this product to work its magic without having to be covered in foundation. Luckily I wasn’t let down. The texture of this clear-ish gel is a little “slippery” if that makes sense. My advice: less is more. You really don’t need to use a lot at once.

I’d definitely recommend this product. I picked it up for about $10, and I know it’s going to last me a while, so it was definitely a good purchase. I tend to have more oily skin, but it gets dry in the winter… either way, I believe Baby Skin would suit all skin types just fine and show some great results.

Give it a try! You can buy Baby Skin wherever Maybelline makeup products are sold.

8 minute workout

workout | marlee and you
I know it's not easy to find time to be active when life, school and work keep you busy. Eight minutes
is definitely not much of a time commitment, so this workout is totally doable on a daily basis. Plus this circuit is great for beginners, give it a try!

This is the perfect routine to get you going in the morning! All you need is a yoga mat, breathable athletic wear and some runners. I do this routine in my bedroom – not a lot of room required. By the time I get to the push-ups, I’m definitely feeling the burn.

Want more of a challenge? Do two sets of this routine with a one minute break in between.

Another healthy/active tip: if you love watching Youtube videos for hours like I do, try committing to doing an activity like squats for the whole duration while you watch. Or try doing jumping jacks during commercial breaks when watching TV. Do something similar to this periodically so that you aren't just sitting still for multiple hours.

Bonne santé

DIY heart envelope

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and if you're old fashioned like me, you like to add cute handmade details to the gifts and cards you send. I thought I'd post a little DIY card/envelope idea that I'll be doing this year to give to my mom. This is a simple way to send some love this Valentine's Day, and if you're not into this holiday, maybe save this idea for another occasion!
DIY heart card | marlee and you
I used one-sided card stock paper with glitter by Hopscotch

-patterned paper
-hot glue

marlee and you

1. Cut a heart shape out of patterned paper. If you're using one-sided paper, flip the heart over so that the blank side is facing up. Turn the heart upside down.
2. Fold in both sides an equal amount (I did about an inch). This step determines the final shape of the envelope...
3. Fold up the bottom to cover the side folds.
4. Fold down the top point

From here, you can do as you wish. I chose to write a Valentine message on the blank side of my
heart, but you could also cut a piece of paper or make a card that will fit nicely inside the envelope you've made. To add some final touches I hot glued a dab to lightly seal the envelope, then added a heart on the front.

Let me know if you end up trying this out!

liebster award

liebster award | marlee and youExciting news! I’ve been nominated for the liebster award by fellow blogger +Jess at http://oodlesojess.blogspot.ca. I love that the concept of this blog award is to help promote new/small blogs to expand their audience. Such a great way to build community!

Without further ado, here are the rules:

1. You have to link back to the person who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they asked you within their liebster award post.

2. You must pick 11 nominees for the liebster award and tell them that they've been nominated. (You cannot pick the person who nominated you.)

3. You must ask your nominees 11 questions of your choice.

My answers to Jess' questions:

1. What made you start your blog?
I started this blog after being inspired by other bloggers and wanting to pass on my own opinions and advice on literally everyday life things. I love connecting through social media, websites and blogs.

2.  Favourite makeup brand?
I’m a Covergirl fan for sure! Being a student, I have a very small budget for high-end makeup and I love that Covergirl offers good quality for reasonable drugstores prices.

3. What do you like to do when you have some free time?
Fun fact: I play piano! I love music, especially making my own music. I’m currently learning my way through a new piano book I got for Christmas by one of my favourite French-Canadian artists Beatrice Martin from Coeur de Pirate.

4. What can we expect from your blog?
I don’t want my blog to be labeled strictly as “beauty” or “fitness” or “cooking” but I want it to be a little bit of everything. I’ll be sharing interesting and share-worthy life happenings, while also posting product reviews, opinions on books, recipes I’ve tried (and succeeded at) and even some DIY projects.

5. Elegent french nails or stylish nail art?
I’m a big fan of nail art. French manicures, in my opinion, are a little too formal for my everyday taste. Stay tuned for future nail art ideas/designs here on my blog!

6. If you could have your dream job, what would it be?
This might be a little childish, but I would say I’m a child at heart anyway. My dream job is to work as a princess at Disney World. I adore everything Disney and would love to be able to work in a magical place “where dreams come true” on a daily basis.

7. Where do you see yourself in a year's time?
In a year, so much could or could not have happened. I’m hoping to go to Germany this summer, so (*fingers crossed*) in a year’s time, I’ll be more cultured with eyes wide open and full of wanderlust for the rest of my days...

8. What would you say to someone who wanted to start a blog?
Do it for you! Don’t try to mimic something that’s already out there. Enjoy the blogging process, reach out to the blogger community, and hey, maybe internet success will follow. If you blog to please yourself, it can bring so much joy!

9. Winter or Summer?
Summer, no doubt! In the summer, there is no school, I can wear shorts, go swimming... days are longer, the seasonal foods are better... and I’m just an all-around jollier person in the summer :)

10. Favourite song at the moment?
I'd have to say XO by Beyonce. I can't get over her new album!

11. Who is you inspiration?
My grandmother is definitely an inspiration to me. She is one of the most selfless people I know, caring for people day in and day out. I hope to be as generous and loving as she is.

My Nominees:
